The Council has a statutory duty to consult and publish its policy towards the allocation of social housing in the form of an Allocation Scheme. This sets how Croydon resident become eligible for housing as well as the rules for qualifying for the scheme. It then presents the priorities for rehousing as well as how priorities are awarded for different levels of housing need.
The report seeks to present proposed changes to the policy in a time of rising housing need and a reduction in available accommodation.
Cabinet is requested to make decisions pertaining to proposed changes, and to approve a 12-week public consultation on the proposals.
