A26/17 MINUTES OF THE MEETING HELD ON THURSDAY 9TH MARCH 2017

RESOLVED that the minutes of the meeting held on Thursday 9 March 2017 be signed as a correct record.

A27/17 DISCLOSURE OF INTEREST

There were no disclosures of a pecuniary interest not already registered.

There was none.

RESOLVED to that allocation of business between Part A and Part B of the Agenda be confirmed.

A30/17 PLANNING APPLICATIONS FOR DECISION

6.1 15/01811/P 81 Purley Downs Road, South Croydon, CR2 0RJ
Demolition of garage at rear; erection of 2 three bedroom
semi-detached dwellinghouses fronting Penwortham Road; formation of vehicular access and provision of associated parking

Mr Stephen Roberts, adjacent neighbour, spoke in objection

 

After considering the officer's report and addendum, which included a rewording of the tree protection condition to reference alterations to the ground level around the edge of the protected trees in 83's garden, Councillor Luke Clancy proposed and Councillor Sue Winborn seconded REFUSAL, on the grounds of overdevelopment and the loss of a TPO tree, and the Committee voted 2 in favour and 3 against, so this motion fell.

 

The Committee then voted on a second motion, supporting the officer's recommendation for APPROVAL, proposed by Councillor Paul Scott and seconded by Councillor Joy Prince, 3 in favour and 2 against, so permission was GRANTED for development at 81 Purley Downs Road, South Croydon, CR2 0RJ.

 

6.2 16/05779/HSE 15 Selcroft Road, Purley CR8 1AG
Erection of two/three storey side extension
Ward: Purley
 

Mr Andy Newbery, adjacent neighbour, and Mr Phil Reed, Chair of Purley & Woodcote Residents' Association, spoke in objection

Mr Oliver Norris spoke in support, as the applicant

Councillor Simon Brew, ward Member for Purley, spoke in objection, on behalf of local residents

 

Having considered the officer's report and addendum, Councillor Paul Scott proposed and Councillor Manju Shahul-Hameed seconded the officer's recommendation and the Committee voted 3 in favour and 1 against, with 1 abstention, so permission was GRANTED for development at 15 Selcroft Road, Purley CR8 1AG.

 

A second motion for REFUSAL, on the grounds of being out of character with neighbouring properties, and having an overbearing impact on and overshadowing the neighbouring property, proposed by Councillor Luke Clancy, was not seconded.
